The Now and Then

Spread the love

the now and thenI was wild like the wind,

I ran and jumped and cried with pain and joy,

I knew what love and laughter was,

I was many, the multitude and whole

But time battered me, and I changed,

The skin of youth now replaced by a heavy sack,

The quick wit! Now dulled by fraudulent feelings,

Anguish and self loathing creates the false façade,

While laughter is now only used to hide the scars,

And love is no more than an abstract concept,

Hollowed and emptied out; I sit seeking transmogrification,

A way to fill the void – tears and substances only masks the pain

Day time lies as my shadows only grows darker,

Others everywhere others with things I covet

Curtains closed I wish the world away

About Author. I have Borderline Personality Disorder and as a writer and poet I explore my madness through the creative arts. I have a personal belief that even in darkness light exists and it is a personal responsibility to always seek the light and I find the light in creating something.
