Holding it together

Spread the love

I can't keep pretending i am okHow are you doing?

If I told you would run and hide,

If you knew me! You would know!

If I fell apart could you put me back together?

Holding back the urges,

I spit forward monosyllabic responses,

How was your day?

Do you really want me to say!

How and when it started, restless broken night,

How each sound ripped my soul apart,

How each breath chokes back anger and hate,

Smile tilt head,

I spit forward monosyllabic responses,

Safe space lies, they lock you away,

Don’t say don’t say,

Build the wall make it thick and tall,

Wax lyrical of would’er, could’er, should’er bes

Learn to trust it a must,

The two way street I drive reverse my retreat,

Session ends alone I stand,

Confused half open and exposed,

Vulnerability a salted wound,

Retract vanish inside,

Apply the mask and polish the armour,

Hold back urges,

Smile tilt head,

Spit forward monosyllabic responses.

About Author. I have Borderline Personality Disorder and as a writer and poet I explore my madness through the creative arts. I have a personal belief that even in darkness light exists and it is a personal responsibility to always seek the light and I find the light in creating something.
